Richard Alley is a writer. He writes the “Because I Said So” parenting column for the Memphis Commercial Appeal and has written for pretty much every publication of note in the area. You should check out his stuff in the River Times insert in the current issue of Memphis magazine, it’s really good.
We talked about how he went from chauffeur to cigar store owner to freelancer, his family roots and writing as a calling as well as a job. I really enjoyed the interview, it was a pleasure to talk to him.
Some announcements. I wanted to take a few minutes to welcome Jackie Ellison from Itchy Shutter Finger to the “People I Know” fold.
Jackie’s site is dedicated to Memphis street photography. I enjoy his work over there. You should too.
Jackie will be helping with the site’s images. I wanted to get a more cohesive look and he was kind enough to volunteer his time and talent. Big thank you to him.
I’d really appreciate if you take a second and subscribe to the show in iTunes. There’s a link on the show page or you can search “People I Know” in the podcast section of iTunes. It’s a big help.
If you’d like to get in touch, drop me an email at ed@talkingtonobody.com or follow the show on twitter @peopleiknowpod
Thanks, Ed
