Episode 8 Eric Tate

Eric Tate makes movies. Memphians and film buffs will probably remember him from Craig Brewer’s first film, The Poor and the Hungry.

Eric Tate

Back in 2000, the debut was a local sensation. If you haven’t seen the film, Eric turned a hell of a performance for someone who hadn’t really been in a feature length film before. Try to catch it if you can.

After a several year absence, Eric is back producing, directing, writing and even acting in some projects. Eric,  Chad Barton and Shelby Baldock at Piano Man Pictures  have made some great shorts this year.

and Am I

Emboldened by the reception from their shorts, the crew has launched a Kickstarter campaign to make a feature length film entitled Lights, Camera, Bullshit. It looks like an immensely worthy and fun project. You should go drop off a twenty or three at their Kickstater page.

I sat down with Eric and talked about what it was like to be involved with the whirlwind of indie success, deciding to commit his life to moviemaking and where film is going. Eric was a good sport and put up with me as well as could be expected considering we were both bone sober and drinking coffee on a Sunday afternoon.

thanks as usual go out to our badass photog Jackie Ellison who is killing it every. damn. day.

Hope you like it,

Ed
